Facial Acupuncture

A natural and holistic approach to facial enhancement

Facial acupuncture is an extension of traditional Chinese acupuncture to offer a more natural way to create a healthier, revitalised and more youthful appearance. We offer a personalised approach by combining facial acupuncture with the use of traditional acupuncture points to also address any health issues you may have.

What is Facial Acupuncture?

In addition to its traditional uses, in recent years acupuncture has developed to be used as a natural and non-invasive treatment for anti-aging and facial enhancement.

By inserting extremely fine needles into certain points and muscles on the face, the body’s micro-wound healing response is triggered. This results in the lymphatic and circulatory systems being activated, which work together to deliver increased blood and oxygen to skin cells, resulting in the skin being nourished which brightens the complexion. The microtraumas also stimulate the production of collagen which helps improve elasticity, resulting in tighter muscles and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.

Treatment will also involve the use of body points to support and provide a more holistic approach to your facial acupuncture treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the questions we are asked most often, if you have any other questions please get in touch and we will be happy to help.

  • Your first appointment will consist of a consultation and treatment and will be longer than subsequent sessions. During the consultation, we will take a full medical history and discuss what areas of your face you are concerned about.

Treatment will involve the insertion of very fine needles into facial acupuncture points and wrinkles. The points we use are based on a standard protocol which is designed to target and lift specific facial muscles. We also use some body acupuncture points to support your overall treatment.

The needles will be left in for approximately 20 minutes and, once removed, will be followed by either a calming face mask, facial gua sha or facial cupping.

  • It is recommended to have facial acupuncture on a weekly basis. At least six sessions are required to see noticeable results and 10 sessions are required to achieve the maximum effect from facial acupuncture. Following this, it is advised you have a monthly or bi-monthly session for maintenance purposes.

  • Facial acupuncture can tighten facial muscles, increase blood circulation, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce puffiness and brighten the complexion.

After a full course of treatment of 10 sessions, the effects from facial acupuncture are expected to last for three months. To maintain the effects, it is recommended you have a monthly or bi-monthly maintenance session.

In addition to the benefits in their skin, patients also report an improvement in their general health, such as improved sleep or feeling more relaxed.

  • Possible side effects can include bruising, slight bleeding or slight discomfort when the needles are inserted.
